Pikes Peak

Its no wonder that "America the Beautiful" was written by Katharine Lee Bates (1893) while she was on an expedition to the top of Pikes Peak. She had to travel it by covered wagon, but nowadays you can just take the Cog Railway (http://www.cograilway.com/). The views are breathtaking... and so is the thin air as you get to the top if you don't acclimate well!
